Required to Process planning applications accurately and efficiently.

As well as Visiting sites and assessing the impact of development on the surroundings.

Processing reports for committee and for senior officers on behalf of the Council.

Providing pre-application advice.

Arbitrating between different stakeholder groups from the Council Members, general public and other professionals and organisations.

Understanding complex legal and policy documents and relating this to a variety of cases from simple to complex.

Essential Criteria

Must be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, hold a suitable professional qualification related directly to the post and be eligible for Corporate Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Must demonstrate some experience in a development management or policy planning context and have an understanding and experience of planning legislation and government guidance.

Must have good written and verbal communication skills with a clear focus on customer care.

Must be able to demonstrate good organisational and time management skills.

Must demonstrate good keyboard and IT skills. A well developed and practical ability in Microsoft office software applications is essential.

Must be a team player with the ability to forge strong personal relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders and agencies.

Must have a driving licence and use of a suitably insured vehicle for business use, or be otherwise able to demonstrate the ability to travel to sites around the borough in an efficient manner.

Working 37 Hours per week
