To assist the Housing Needs Team Leader to deliver an efficient and effective Housing Options, Homelessness Prevention & Statutory Homelessness Assessment Service to meet the Council’s targets and Statutory Homelessness duties.

Example of duties

•Ensure a high quality housing advice service is given to Customers by responding effectively & efficiently to enquiries, mainly by telephone.

•Maintain an on-going knowledge and understanding of relevant housing legislation and the Council’s statutory duties and commitments in providing housing services to those who are, have been or are likely to become homeless.

•Liaise with relevant statutory, voluntary, private sector and other agencies including team members and other service areas, in order to assist the Senior Housing Options Officers to provide tailored solutions to a customers identified housing needs.

•Under the direction of the Senior Housing Options Officers, undertake casework enquiries, including home visits and prepare decision notifications for the Senior Housing Options Officers.

The ideal candidate

•Must have 5 GCSE’s at A-C grade, suitable relevant experience of delivering a high quality customer service and be able to demonstrate an understanding of a Housing Options approach for resolving housing issues.

•Must demonstrate an ability to quickly learn and convey, in ordinary language to members of the public, complex legislation and policies.

•Must demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team as well as being self motivated and able to work on your own initiative.

•Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to provide a customer focused service to a diverse population including particular skills to deal with challenging behavior and complex needs.


•Must have experience of working within a pressurised environment requiring a high standard of service delivery within tight timescales.

•Must be organised and efficient, with a professional approach.

•Must be committed to high standards of customer care to provide a customer focused service to people with challenging behaviour and complex needs

Working 37 Hours per week
